WELCOME FROM THE MUSIC DIRECTOR
Come celebrate the 10th Anniversary Season 2017/2018 of the Chamber Orchestra of New York. The milestone season includes a four-concert Masterwork Series at Carnegie Hall with additional productions around the city.
Our season opening concert “Postcards from Italy” is Saturday, October 28th at Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall. Music of Rossini, Verdi, and Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony complement American violinist Elena Urioste’s performance of Respighi’s first Violin Concerto in A Major, which on Naxos Records brought the orchestra to inter- national acclaim. Dirk Brossé’s Pictures at an Exhibition receives its New York premiere alongside the world premiere of my own Palermo Overture. VIP ticket buyers will enjoy access to our post-concert champagne reception.
Our Masterwork Series at Carnegie Hall will also include three programs at Weill Hall: Saturday, December 9, 2017, Thursday, March 1, 2018 and Thursday, June 7, 2018. Season highlights also include featuring four of our principals as soloists: Burt Mason in Albrechtsberger’s Trombone Concerto, concertmaster Kelly Hall-Tompkins and Margaret Snyder in Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, and Kristi Shade – together with Italian flutist Tommaso Benciolini – in Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Harp. And in celebration of Claudio Monteverdi’s 450th birth anniversary, I will present my orchestration of his opera overture Orfeo, Toccata e Ritornello.
We greatly look forward to your presence for all the celebrations! Become a regular member of the Chamber Orchestra of New York experience.
